How to Restore Your Wigs with a Bleach Bath

Hello, My Beautiful People!

Happy 2022.

Do you have a well-loved wig? Is your wig getting tangled, matted, and dull? Well, love, I'm here to help.

Whenever my wigs or extensions get dull, matted, or tangled, I give them a bleach bath to restore and detangle them.

Some important information to know before starting this process.

Clean your sink and ALL items between EVERY Step.

I have only tried this on human hair.

What's Needed:

Water

1/4 Cup of bleach

3/4 cup of ammonia

shampoo

conditioner

a comb

a towel

bowl

plastic or glass measuring cup

plastic bag

gloves

Step 1.

Get your wig. Comb and detangle as much as possible before starting.

Step 2.

You need 16 cups of water (as warm/hot as you can handle).

Step 3.

You need 1/4 cup of bleach.

Step 4.

Dip your wig or weave in the mixture and comb in-between dips from the ends to the roots. (if your wig has color on it, the bleach will remove some of it.)

Step 5

Rinse the hair very well for about 5 minutes. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Step 6

Clean out the sink and fill it with shampoo ( I suggest a neutralizing shampoo)

Step 7

Twelve cups (as hot as you can handle) of water and add 3/4 of a cup of ammonia (Use gloves)

Step 8

Rinse the hair for 5 minutes

Step 9

Clean out the sink and fill it with shampoo ( I suggest a neutralizing shampoo)

Step 10

Deep Condition your extensions or wig for at least 5 minutes. (Make sure there are no metal pieces if you decide to go the microwave deep condition route.) If you choose to boil to hair with the deep conditioner, you can leave any metal pieces.

Step 11

Let it cool before rinsing.

Step 12

Let it air dry or style as normal.

Watch me go through the process.
