The season of self-control

One of the things I decided to adopt for Lent is cleaning the kitchen every night before starting my nightly routine. Most of the things I’m choosing to pick up or letting go of have to do with self-control, my need to maintain control in certain areas, and my lack of it in others. I relish waking up to a clean kitchen, but the longer I linger on the couch, trying to avoid washing the dishes, the easier it becomes to convince myself that I’ll do it tomorrow.
